Expanding Access to Care: Orthopedics
In April, the Clinics formed a contractural relationship with Marin’s largest orthopedic group – Mt. Tam Orthopedis & Spine Center. All 14 of its providers are now working on a rotating basis to provide comprehensive specialty care at each of our clinics, seeing about 40-60 patients per month. This is an improtant step, as we have had a long-standing need for more community based orthopedic and spine doctors to serve our patients.
The Mt. Tam team augments the wonderful care that has been provided by other community orthopedic specialists for many years, including physicians at Marin Orthopedic and Sports Medicine and Prima Medical Group as well as volunteer Dr. Michael Star (one of this year’s Summer Solstice Honorees)… READ MORE
Meet Erik Schten MD
Fifteen years ago, Dr. Erik Schten joined Marin Community Clinics as a primary care physician serving adult patients. Passionate about his work with patients, he has a special interest in working with diverse international populations, sparked by living in Ethiopia and Colombia during his childhood.
Today, Dr. Schten serves as Site Medical Director at the Novato Campus , overseeing care at the 6100 Redwood Blvd. facility…. READ MORE

Giving Back to the World Community
This summer, six dental chairs will make their way from Marin Community Clinics to Tanzania – thanks to the connection between a local businessman and our clinics. Ahmed Issa, a long-time San Rafael resident and an Honorary Counsel of Tanzania, owns a moving company that has worked for the Clinics.
Last year, Issa spent several weeks in Tanzania helping out at a hospital where he saw a tremendous need for basic medical equipment. When he learned that we were planning to upgrade our dental equipment, he started the ball rolling. He picked up and stored the chairs and A Global Connection, a Bay Area nonprofit, has arranged for shipment to Tanzania.
At Marin Community Clinics, we rely heavily on our dynamic community of donors. It is our donors that allow us to add/enhance programs that provide quality, cost-effective, culturally sensitive, patient-centered health care. Your generous gift supports medical and dental care for children, teens, adults and seniors in need.
